Gesamter Rundgang

Drittelhof

Ehemaliger Drittelhof

(Mühltorstraße 23, 1. Hälfte 15. Jh.)

Ancienne « ferme tierce » « Drittelhof »

Former One-third Farm

(Mühltorstraße 23, 1st half of 15th century)

The One-third Farm was first referred to in 1441 and consists of two farm houses and three barns built on the town wall overlooking the suburbs. Along with the Mill Gate it formed an important part of the fortification of the suburbs and was at the same time the biggest historical barn complex in Lauffen. In 1444 Kunz Hoffmann from Ilsfeld received the hereditary entailment and was the first farmer obliged to hand in a third of the fruit crop to Lauffen castle (hence “One-third Farm”). In 1676/77 Johann Fischer brewed beer here - without the knowledge of the bailiff – this is the oldest proof of beer brewing in Lauffen. Later the buildings were also used as a tannery and a brandy distillery.
